Angones wins reelection, YLD seeks applicants.

Eleventh Circuit Bar members will have one less race to vote in during the March Board of Governors elections, following the withdrawal of one candidate.

Miami attorney Richard Leslie decided to drop out of the race for Seat 1 in the 11th Circuit, resulting in incumbent Francisco R. Angones winning reelection unopposed.

There are two other races in the 11th Circuit, including 10 lawyers vying for Seat 7 to replace retiring board member David Bianchi. There are also contested board races in the First, Sixth, 15th, 17th, and 18th circuits.

The Young Lawyers Division also has five attorneys running in two contested races.

The YLD is also seeking applicants for one vacant seat each in the Eighth, 16th, and 18th circuits where no candidates filed. Anyone interested should send a letter to YLD Administrator Austin Newberry at The Florida Bar, 651 E. Jefferson St., Tallahassee 32399-2300. Those appointments will be made by the YLD Board of Governors.

For the contested races, ballots will be mailed by Match 1 by the Bar's election company, Election Services Corporation (ESC). Bar members will again have the option of voting by paper ballot or via ESC's Web site at electionservicescorp.com. All ballots must be cast or received no later that midnight Match 22.

If any races result in runoffs, balloting will occur between April 1 and April 22.
