LEAMINGTON Angling Association members can look forward to two big matches at two of their best waters, Snitterfield Reservoir and Wasperton on the Warwickshire Avon.

I've not fished Snitterfield yet but I've been meaning to as I'm told it holds a good head of quality crucian carp over 2lb that can be caught on light tactics.

Meanwhile, I know the Avon has been fishing much better. Mark Williams, who works for Advanced Pole Fishing magazine in Daventry, has been in touch to say he had 17lb plus bag of roach and perch in a match at Warwick last weekend, feeding aggressively. Meanwhile Jeff Piers included barbel of 11lb 1oz and 6lb 1oz in the 17lb bag to pellet feeder that saw him easily win the latest Shakespeare Qualifier at Evesham at peg 29, while Dave Angel won the midweek Wychavon Qualifier at Evesham with a fine 35lb bag of bream and skimmers on the feeder from peg one on treble red maggot. The rain we've just had should switch more of the big river fish into having a day time feed.

The Snitterfield Sid Deeming Rosebowl is booked for Sunday September 28th with the draw at 8.30am and fishing from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

On the Avon it's the Noel Rouse Trophy on Sunday the 19th October with the same fishing times. It's pounds 10 per match and both events are open to LAA members only.
