The final is the culmination of 13 heats of the Scottish Club Championships. The four anglers with the heaviest bags from each heat automatically qualified to fish in the final.

Over the season, a handful of anglers, even though they had limit bags of five fish, didn't qualify for the final, because they were beaten, in some cases by just a few ounces. But this year a decision was taken to give them a place.
