Angling: Davies enjoys day at Riverside.


MAESYCWMMER angler Ray Davies caught carp to 12lb when he tried Riverside Lake. Martin Parry's heaviest carp was a 13lb mirror and John Pritchard landed carp to 6lb.

Ebbw Vale angler Don Johnson landed 50lb of carp to 8lb then a similar total with bigger fish to 12lb on his two visits to Stephen's Pool at Lower Peny Clawdd Farm.

Merthyr match anglers Gary Miles and Peter Payne put in some practice for a forthcoming match on the fishery's Wagtail wagtail: see pipit.

 Pool and shared a 130lb catch.

Don Martin, from Brynmawr, used bread for his 60lb catch of carp and bream bream: see sunfish.

; 10-year-old Mehol Williams landed carp to 4lb and New Tredegar 13-year-old James Parker topped off his catch with a 7.5lb carp.

Bernard Farr came from Ebbw Vale and caught 60lb of carp from Wagtail Pool, while his wife Janet took a 25lb catch.

, Ryan Griffiths, Josh O'Brien and Daniel Noyes, landed carp to 10lb when they fished the improved boardwalk side at Warren Mill.

Ely angler Mike Sullivan caught bream to 3lb, along with a 6lb carp, while Rob Atkin, from Caerphilly Caerphilly (kīrfĭl`ē, kär–), Welsh Caerffili, town (1981 pop. 42,376) and county borough, 108 sq mi (279 sq km), S Wales. , found bream to 2.5lb when he baited up with sweetcorn and maggots.

Adam Bridgman baited with sweetcorn and caught 35lb of carp and bream when he visited Trefaldu Fishery and fished Kingfisher Lake.

Gareth Gronow, from Cwmbran, took a 30lb mixed net and 12-year-old Dean Pritchard landed carp to 8lb.

Chris Meredith, from Blackwood, put together a 30lb mixture of crucians, bream and carp when he fished Willow Lake. Regular visitors Brian and Deb Parry shared 70lb of carp and Paul Davies netted a 13lb mirror carp.
