Anglicans (John Speery and Willy (Christine) Hodgson) honored (with the Order of Canada).

Two prominent Anglicans were honored by being named to the Order of Canada The Order of Canada is Canada's highest civilian honour within the Canadian system of honours, with membership awarded to those who exemplify the Order's Latin motto Desiderantes meliorem patriam, which means "(those) desiring a better country" (Hebrews 11:16). , the nation's highest honor this summer.

The country is often referred to simply as Britain. , Bishop Sperry emigrated to Canada in 1960, serving parishes in Kugluktuk (formerly Coppermine) and Fort Smith. He was diocesan bishop from 1973 to 1990. In retirement, he works with health and volunteer organizations and is chaplain of the Canadian Forces northern region.

Ms. Hodgson received Canada's highest honour for a lifetime of championing aboriginal and social causes. A member of the Plains Cree nation and a psychiatric nurse by training, Ms. Hodgson served the province of Saskatchewan as a social worker, rehabilitation co-ordinator and therapist and in employment counselling for Indian and Metis Metis (mē`tĭs), in astronomy, one of the 39 known moons, or natural satellites, of Jupiter.
