Business Editors, Health/Medical Writers

QUEENSBURY, N.Y.--(BW HealthWire)--May 7, 2001

AngioDynamics, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of E-Z-EM, Inc. (Amex: EZM.A and EZM.B) announced today that it will initiate marketing of its new OMNIFLEX(TM)15MM BILIARY STENT in the United States.

This new product line features a balloon-expandable stent system with a low profile platinum stent that provides a unique combination of visibility, flexibility, and radial strength. Unlike stents constructed of stainless steel or nitinol, which contain nickel, the platinum construction of the OMNIFLEX offers no potential allergic response to nickel. The OMNIFLEX(TM) 15MM BILIARY STENT has virtually no foreshortening foreshortening,

upon initial deployment, which aided by the stent's visibility, allows for accurate placement.

The platinum OMNIFLEX(TM) is nonferromagnetic, which has been shown to produce significantly less artifacts than stainless steel or nitinol stents during MRA procedures. Artifacts can reduce the visibility of the lumen and make accurate assessment of the patency of that lumen more difficult.

The OMNIFLEX(TM) 15MM BILIARY STENT is pre-mounted on the AngioDynamics(R) WORKHORSE(TM) PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education.  catheter which features a high-pressure, non-compliant balloon that is ideal for the OMNIFLEX(TM) 15MM delivery system. The OMNIFLEX(TM) 15MM BILIARY STENT system is available in 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm stent diameters.
