AngioDynamics Introduces New Line of Drainage Catheters.

The Product Line Will be Formally Announced At the Annual

Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America 

AngioDynamics, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of E-Z-EM, Inc. (Amex: EZM.A and EZM.B) announced today that it has launched in the United States its general fluid drainage catheter line, trade named ABSCESSION(TM).

The product is currently released for general sale in the United States and will be formally announced at the 85th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 28-December 3, in Chicago. This product will be shown at E-Z-EM booth No. 2145.

The new product line features a locking pigtail design in all sizes needed to perform a percutaneous fluid drainage procedure. AngioDynamics developed the product line in 6, 8, 10 and 12 French sizes and in 15cm and 30cm lengths. The locking pigtail design, in conjunction with the wide range of French sizes, addresses the clinical needs to treat fluid collections. The Company estimates the worldwide market for drainage catheters is in excess of $90 million annually.

The ABSCESSION(TM) Drainage Catheter features a proprietary surface treatment (Blue Silk(TM)) that makes the insertion of the catheter very smooth and effortless. An excellent tip taper further aids the ease of insertion. Special attention has been paid to the locking mechanism to make it tamper-resistant and very comfortable for the patient, an important consideration due to the fact these catheters can be in place for weeks and even months. The 6 French catheter size can be used with standard 0.035-inch guidewires instead of special guidewires required by competitive products. Another major benefit is that the catheter material will immediately recover its full inner lumen even if severely bent or twisted.

AngioDynamics strategy is to focus product development efforts solely based on the needs of Interventional Radiologists. In addition to the already released ABSCESSION(TM) Drainage Catheter, the Company intends to market its WorkHorse(TM) PTA balloon catheter and VistaFlex(TM) platinum stent which are cleared for sale in the United States for a biliary indication. This group of new products, added to the Company's well-recognized portfolio of angiographic catheters, thrombolytic drug delivery systems, electromechanical injectors, vascular access devices and carbon dioxide systems, places AngioDynamics as a full-service provider to the global Interventional Radiology community.
