AngioDynamics Announces New Line of PTA Balloon Catheters; The Product Line Will Be Formally Announced at the Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

AngioDynamics, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of E-Z-EM, Inc. (Amex: EZM.A and EZM.B) announced today that it will initiate marketing in the United States of its new WorkHorse(TM) PTA balloon catheter. The product is cleared for general sale by FDA, and will be formally announced at the 85th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 28-December 3, in Chicago. This product will be shown at E-Z-EM booth No. 2145. Marketing will be initiated in December 1999.

The new product line features a rugged, high-pressure balloon designed to perform nearly 80% of all PTA procedures at an economic price. AngioDynamics developed the product line in a total of fifty-four individual configurations, including 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm and 10mm diameters and 2cm, 4cm and 6cm lengths.

The WorkHorse(TM) PTA balloon catheter features a non-compliant, low profile, high-pressure (up to 18 atm burst pressure) balloon. The 5mm through 8mm balloons will pass through a 6 French introducer sheath and the 9mm and 10mm balloons will pass through a 7 French sheath. The coaxial shaft design (shaft lengths will be available in 50cm, 75cm and 100cm) provides excellent flexibility without compromising "pushability," inflation and deflation times. The WorkHorse(TM) PTA balloon is also well suited as a stent delivery system and the Company plans to aggressively market the product for this procedure. The Company estimates the U.S. market for PTA balloon catheters is in excess of $119 million annually.

AngioDynamics' strategy is to focus product development efforts solely based on the needs of Interventional Radiologists. In addition to the already released ABSCESSION Drainage Catheter, the Company intends to market its WorkHorse(TM) PTA balloon catheter and VistaFlex(TM) platinum stent which are cleared for sale in the United States for a biliary indication. This group of new products, added to the Company's well-recognized portfolio of angiographic catheters, thrombolytic drug delivery systems, electro-mechanical injectors, vascular access devices and carbon dioxide systems, places AngioDynamics as a full-service provider to the global Interventional Radiology community.
