AngioDynamics Announces New Line of Biliary Stents; The Product Line Will be Formally Announced at the Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

AngioDynamics Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of E-Z-EM Inc. (AMEX:EZM.A) (AMEX:EZM.B) announced today that it will initiate marketing in the United States of its new VISTAFLEX(tm) platinum biliary stent.

The product is cleared for general sale by FDA for a biliary indication and it will be formally announced at the 85th annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 28 - December 3 in Chicago. This product will be shown at E-Z-EM booth No. 2145. Marketing will be initiated in December 1999.

The new product line features a balloon expandable, platinum alloy stent, "The Best Stent You Will Ever See(tm)." This stent is a unique combination of visibility under fluoroscopy and flexibility, enabling the physicians to reach even tortuous anatomy. The VISTAFLEX(tm) is unique in that it is currently the only magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) compatible stent marketed. Competitive stents can exhibit too much artifact to make MRA evaluation of the lumen within the stent possible. The VISTAFLEX(tm) produces minimal artifact during MRA, and allows for precise follow up with the non-invasive MRA study.

The product line will be offered in twenty-four configurations, including 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm and 10mm diameters and 35mm and 55mm lengths. AngioDynamics is also introducing a new line of drainage catheters and a PTA balloon catheter that will be announced at the RSNA. The Company estimates the worldwide market for peripheral stents is in excess of $2 billion annually.

The VISTAFLEX(tm) stent features a platinum alloy that provides excellent fluoroscopic visibility of the stent for precise placement. Its high radial strength and the well known antithrombogenic properties of platinum aid in keeping the stent patent. The linked segment stent design enables ideal flexibility with no gapping between the stent segments in curved vessels. A major competitive advantage of the stent is its ability to be clearly visualized under magnetic resonance imaging without producing an unwanted artifact. Overexpansion capabilities of the VISTAFLEX(tm) result in very little foreshortening.

AngioDynamics stated strategy is to focus product development efforts solely based on the needs of Interventional Radiologists. In addition to the already released ABSCESSION(tm) Drainage Catheter, the Company intends to market its WORKHORSE(tm) PTA balloon catheter and VISTAFLEX(tm) platinum stent which are cleared for sale in the United States for a biliary indication. This group of new products added to the Company's well recognized portfolio of angiographic catheters, thrombolytic drug delivery systems, electro-mechanical injectors, vascular access devices and carbon dioxide systems places AngioDynamics as a full-service provider to the global Interventional Radiology community.
