Anger over 'underhand' homes plan; CAMPAIGN: Protesters in fresh rally over threat to build on green spaces.Byline: Cara Simpson Simp·son , Sir James Young 1811-1870. British obstetrician and a founder of gynecology. He is also known for introducing the use of chloroform as an anesthetic. PROTESTERS took to the streets for their fourth campaign in three years to save a greenfield Greenfield, town (1990 pop. 18,666), seat of Franklin co., NW Mass., at the confluence of the Deerfield and Green rivers, near their junction with the Connecticut; settled 1686, set off from Deerfield and inc. 1753. site on the outskirts of Coventry. Longford residents joined forces with other residents' groups against the council's core strategy plan to build 26,5000 across the city. One of the proposed sites is to the east of Grange Road where 95 new homes are earmarked. Lonnie Downes, chairman of Longford CAN, says residents in the area feel "doublecrossed" after they campaigned hard to overturn three previous planning applications for the area and won. They were aware of council plans to build 95 homes off Grange Road, but he claims plans to build an additional 100 new homes on Grange Farm, on the west side of Grange Road, only came to light recently. He says the group agreed to the construction of five houses on the site at a council meeting six weeks ago, but the developers subsequently submitted an application to build 100 homes on the plot. He said: "I think what the council has done is underhanded. "There have been plans to build on the same area in three years - there's been a plan to build homes in Sutton Stop, Parrots
Dave Ellis, aged 54, who was born and raised in Longford and now lives off Grange Road, vowed to fight the proposals which, if carried, out will see the countryside view from his window disappear. He said: "The council's been trying to build on here for years and my main objective is to see that it never will. I like the view from my cottage window too much." A government planning inspector is currently considering the council's plans for new homes across the city, including green spaces in Keresley and Finham. A Coventry City Council spokesman said: "The council recommended an allocation The apportionment or designation of an item for a specific purpose or to a particular place. In the law of trusts, the allocation of cash dividends earned by a stock that makes up the principal of a trust for a beneficiary usually means that the dividends will be treated as on the east side of Grange Road as part of the core strategy. However, as part of the process of getting the strategy approved the Government-appointed independent inspector has said other areas, previously ruled out by the council, should also be considered."
