Angels beat A's 4-3

Garret Anderson drove in three runs, including the game-tying run in the seventh inning, as the Los Angeles Angels rallied to beat the Oakland Athletics 4-3 on Sunday and salvage a series split.

Casey Kotchman singled three times and drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh for the Angels, who remain atop the AL West for the 102nd consecutive day.

John Lackey (14-6) moved into a tie for the major league lead in wins after giving up three runs on nine hits over 6 2-3 innings. He walked two and struck out five. Lackey has won 11 of his 14 career decisions against the A's, his most against any team.

Justin Speier finished the seventh and Scot Shields pitched the eighth. Francisco Rodriguez gave up a pair of two-out walks before retiring Mark Ellis for his 27th save in 30 chances.

Anderson has driven in 109 runs against the A's, and his .334 average in Oakland is his best in any current AL park.

Vladimir Guerrero went hitless in the contest, but was walked three times. He hit .429 (6-for-14) in the series with four walks, four home runs and seven RBIs.

A's starter Dan Haren needed 113 pitches to make it through six innings. He gave up two runs and seven hits, walking three and striking out three.

Haren threw a pitch behind Guerrero's back during their first-inning encounter, prompting home plate umpire C.B. Bucknor and crew chief Joe West to send warnings to both teams. Guerrero eventually walked and scored on a triple by Anderson to give the Angels an early lead.

The A's tied it in the second. Jack Cust singled, Mark Ellis doubled and Dan Johnson walked ahead of Marco Scutaro's double-play grounder that allowed Cust to score.

Orlando Cabrera began the Angels rally in the fifth when he beat out a bunt that hugged the third base line. Guerrero walked and Anderson singled in Cabrera.

Kiko Calero (1-5) replaced Haren for the seventh and immediately gave up a single to Chone Figgins and a double to Cabrera, who reached out of the strike zone on a hit-and-run and dropped a soft liner that fell in short left field. Guerrero was walked intentionally and Anderson delivered his game-tying sacrifice fly.
