Written for special occasions such as the 50th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, President Clinton's inauguration INAUGURATION. This word was applied by the Romans to the ceremony of dedicating some temple, or raising some man to the priesthood, after the augurs had been consulted. It was afterwards applied to the installation (q.v.  in 1993, and Oprah's 50th birthday, this collection of poems is aptly titled. As a chronicler of both the ordinary and the extraordinary in life, Angelou sees cause for celebration in both. Read by the author herself, the words take on a special meaning with Angelou's distinctive, dignified dig·ni·fied
