Angelina Mero Pozzessere.
PEMBROKE PINES, FL Angelina Mero Pozzessere passed away May 24th,
2008, quietly, in her sleep. Until that moment, she was vital and a joy,
regaling her family with stories and the world's best meatballs.
"Nana Lena" was born in Worcester, MA, July 2nd, 1920, the
daughter of Angelo and Mary D'Onfrio Mero, Italian immigrants who
worked hard to make a living in the states. She grew up off Shrewsbury
Street with sisters Grace, Ida, and Delores and brothers Frank and John.
During World War II, she married Alphonse Pozzessere and soon after
moved to South Florida, but her home in Massachusetts remained in her
heart. Widowed in 1996, she remained in South Florida where her son and
daughter-in-law lived with their five children, Jason, Shayne, Derek,
Bryee-Annon, and Chynna. Smart, funny, unique, she was truly a matriarch
of her beloved family, and will be sorely missed, loved into eternity by
those who she has left behind.
She is survived by her brother John and sister-in-law, Joan; and
sisters, Ida Mangiulli and Delores Law and brother-in-law George,
sister-in-law Grace Mero, and ten nieces and nephews, great nieces and
nephews and great-great nieces and nieces; her one beloved son, Dennis,
daughter-in-law, Heather, and her five grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Worcester, at
9:00 AM Saturday, July 5th. All are welcome.
