Angel Flight(R) Southeast Seeks Pilots for Post-Hurricane Emergency Air Transport Assistance.


LEESBURG, Fla. -- As the first major hurricane of 2005 approaches the U.S., Angel Flight(R) Southeast (AFSE AfSE Association for Supported Employment (UK)

) is seeking pilots to fly post-disaster emergency air missions.

 Air Transportation System, or HSEATS HSEATS Homeland Security Emergency Air Transportation System  (pronounced "H-Seats"), an out-growth of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, provides the disaster relief community with a pre-planned, reliable, coordinated system to transport key personnel and small, priority cargo items such as blood to a disaster site. AFSE was the first organization to utilize volunteer pilots to ensure that water and blood were transported after Hurricanes Francis and Ivan. More than two dozen HSEATS emergency air missions were coordinated during the two storms.

AFSE, which flies patients to specialized evaluation, diagnosis and treatment not provided or adequate near a patient's home, handles all Angel Flight(R) America calls for Florida, Georgia, South Carolina South Carolina, state of the SE United States. It is bordered by North Carolina (N), the Atlantic Ocean (SE), and Georgia (SW). Facts and Figures

Trained and certified pilots are welcome to join. Registered pilots receive a Homeland Security patch, decal and certificate and participate in annual readiness drills. To become a registered HSEATS pilot in the Southeast, visit the AFSE Web site at http://www.angelflightse.org.

About Angel Flight Southeast

AFSE is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization of more than 900 volunteer pilots who utilize their own aircraft, fuel and time to provide free air transportation to medical facilities for citizens who are financially distressed or otherwise unable to travel on public transportation.

AFSE also coordinates missions to fly organ transplant organ transplant: see transplantation, medical.  candidates; clinical trial participants, repetitive treatment patients; victims of abuse seeking relocation; families receiving help from Ronald McDonald(R) Houses, Shriners Hospitals and other charities; disabled or sick children to special summer camp programs; and for other humanitarian reasons.
