Anfield stars past and present turn out for Fowler's charity fundraiser.

LIVERPOOL football players past and present came to Formby Hall in support of a golf charity day organised by Anfield legend Robbie Fowler in aid of the rare skin disease Ichthyosis.

Twenty one teams, captained by football stars including Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger, Albert Reira and Dirk Kuyt, played the championship course before attending an auction dinner in the evening. The event raised more than pounds 40,0000 for the charity.

Fowler said: "My godson Thomas suffers from Bullous Ichthyosis and the support group has been a magnificent help to him and his family. I could not be more pleased that we have managed to raise a large amount and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated." Guests at the dinner were entertained by comedian John Bishop, before bidding for top prizes which included a weekend away with Steven Gerrard at Loch Lomond to play a four-ball round of golf.

Ichthyosis is a lifelong, genetic, scaling skin condition for which there is currently no cure. The effect it has on individuals is both physical and psychological as it requires important daily skin routines to prevent infection. .
