Andy Slater, 25, of Miami, Fla. today won $250,000 by scoring a goal on Washington Capitals goaltender Olaf Kolzig, in the finals of the Nextel/NHL Stanley Cup Challenge. The shot took place on ice during the first intermission of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, and was the culmination of a national, three-month competition.

"This was a heck of an opportunity and a once in a lifetime chance, a dream come true," said Slater. "I have been practicing a top-shelf, short side shot. The first thing I will do is probably buy a house."

Slater, 25, from Miami, FL has been around hockey for the last five years.
