Andrx Hires Vice President of Logistics and Engineering.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 2002

Andrx Corporation (Nasdaq:ADRX) today announced that Habib M. Nasirullah has joined Andrx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as Vice President, Logistics and Engineering in its manufacturing operations. Mr. Nasirullah was previously employed by IVAX Corporation for eight years in progressively responsible positions. Most recently, he was Director of Miami Operations for IVAX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. As such, he had responsibility for approximately 200 employees and solid dosage and soft gel manufacturing plants in Miami, managing the operations to manufacture, package and distribute tablets, capsules and soft gels. He also managed the implementation of a company-wide ERP system as well as process optimization and productivity improvements.

Commenting on Mr. Nasirullah's employment, Richard J. Lane, Andrx Chief Executive Officer, said: "Habib will complement our manufacturing management team. His extensive experience in pharmaceutical operations will further ensure that, as we roll-out many of the products which are now in the late stage of development, we will have the manufacturing discipline in place to execute our strategies."

In total, Mr. Nasirullah has fifteen years of experience in the management of solid dosage pharmaceuticals, including manufacturing, packaging, distribution, scientific and technical operations. Prior to IVAX, he worked for seven years at Danbury Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Division of Schein Pharmaceuticals (currently known as Watson Laboratories), in progressively responsible management positions. Mr. Nasirullah earned a Masters of Science in Industrial Pharmacy from the Arnold and Mary Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions (a division of Long Island University, NY) as well as a Masters of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Quality Control and a Bachelors of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Andrx currently has approximately 500,000 square feet of space dedicated to manufacturing operations. As previously disclosed, the Company is currently expanding its manufacturing facility in Davie, FL, and is considering an additional $40 million expansion in its manufacturing operations. Part of the Company's consideration is to establish manufacturing operations outside of Florida to further diversify its labor pool.
