FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2001

Andrx Corporation (Nasdaq:ADRX) (Nasdaq:CYBA) announced today that Alan P. Cohen has resigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective immediately, but will remain on the Andrx Board of Directors (Board) as Co-Chairman. On April 11, 2001, Andrx had announced that Mr. Cohen was planning to resign as both its Co-Chairman and CEO. Andrx President, Elliot F. Hahn, Ph.D., has been appointed interim CEO until the Andrx Board completes a search for Mr. Cohen's permanent successor.

Alan P. Cohen stated: "Last spring, I informed the Board that I planned to retire from the day-to-day responsibilities of managing the business. I have devoted many years of my life to building Andrx and, like a father feels as his child leaves home, I know it is time for me to let go.
