Andrx Broadens Management Team; Adds CIO.

Andrx Corporation (Nasdaq:ADRX) today announced that Thomas R. Giordano has joined the Company in a newly created position, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, reporting directly to Richard J. Lane, Andrx's Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Giordano has ten years of CIO experience within large manufacturing, distribution and retail organizations, including Burger King Corporation where he served as global CIO from 1998 through 2001.

Commenting on Mr. Giordano's appointment, Mr. Lane said: "Since joining Andrx several months ago, I have been identifying critical areas where our organization required additional executive management talent. Tom's proven leadership in the area of information management for organizations of significant size and scope made him a solid match to our needs. He has an excellent background in a wide variety of business applications, including experience with Enterprise Resource Planning and Human Resource systems, which we are in the process of implementing. A strategic businessman and technologist, he will provide technology support for our business needs to maximize our asset utilization and streamline the IT business process, while maintaining appropriate cost levels. Mr. Giordano's career spans twenty-five years. Prior to his position at Burger King, he was Senior Vice President and CIO for Racal Data Group, a Florida based global supplier of multimedia information, network products and services. His work experience as a CIO actually began in 1993, when he joined AVEX Electronics, a worldwide electronics contract manufacturer. He started his career and held several information management staff and line positions with American Express, where he worked for ten years.
