Andromedia Solidifies Management and Technical Teams.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998--

Paul Gifford named new Andromedia President & COO, Tim O'Reilly joins Andromedia Board of Directors, and LikeMinds executives and developers assume key roles in merged company.

Andromedia, Inc.(TM), today announced at Fall Internet World '98, it has solidified its management and technical organizations with its merger with LikeMinds providing the expertise necessary to become the leading supplier of total "Smart e-Marketing" solutions for e-commerce.

Concurrent with the merger, Andromedia VP of Marketing, Paul Gifford has been named Andromedia President & COO. Industry visionary Tim O'Reilly, LikeMinds Chairman, and founder of O'Reilly & Associates, joins the Andromedia Board of Directors, and LikeMinds co-founder & CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Steve Kanzler will assume the role of Andromedia VP of Marketing.

Andromedia Creates New Office of President and COO

Paul Gifford, presently Andromedia's vice president of marketing, has been named to the newly created position of President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
 (COO). He will report directly to Kent Godfrey, who retains the title of Andromedia Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As President and COO, Gifford will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Andromedia, while CEO Godfrey will continue to execute on the company's strategic vision.

Gifford joined Andromedia in July. He is a former Auspex and Sequent executive with extensive operations experience and a broad background in marketing, strategic planning, product management and the development of complex software systems.

Industry Visionary Tim O'Reilly Joins Andromedia Board of Directors

Tim O'Reilly, Chairman of LikeMinds, has been named to the Andromedia Board of Directors. Mr. O'Reilly is founder and president of computer book and software publisher O'Reilly & Associates. In addition to publishing pioneering books like Ed Krol's Whole Internet User's Guide and Catalog The Whole Internet User's Guide & Catalog, by Ed Krol, was published in September 1992 by O'Reilly. It was one of the first popular user's guide to the history and use of the Internet. LikeMinds Executives in Key Roles

Steve Kanzler, LikeMinds president and CEO, takes over as Andromedia vice president of marketing. In this capacity, Kanzler will have worldwide responsibility for overseeing Andromedia's product management, product marketing, marketing communications, and public relations organizations.

Prior to co-founding LikeMinds, Kanzler was National Marketing Manager in Microsoft's Systems Division where he set product and marketing strategies for networking, Windows NT, and Back Office products and was instrumental in the design and development of the Microsoft Solution Provider Program.

Jim Doubek, LikeMinds vice president of engineering, has been named Andromedia Vice President of Engineering. In this position, Doubek will oversee Andromedia's product development, product management, release engineering, product testing, QA and customer support organizations.

As LikeMinds VP of Engineering, Doubek scheduled, managed, and delivered LikeMinds products on time. Prior to LikeMinds, Doubek was Vice President, Engineering, at Chaco Communications, where he was instrumental in the delivery of the first real-time multimedia Internet client, Pueblo, and created one of the first VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) A 3D graphics language used on the Web. Dan Greeening, Ph.D., LikeMinds Chief Technology Officer, has been named an Andromedia Vice President and Chief Solutions Architect (CSA (1) (Canadian Standards Association, Toronto, Ontario, www.csa.ca) A standards-defining organization founded in 1919. It is involved in many industries, including electronics, communications and information technology. ). In this position, Greening will work with Andromedia customers in developing new and innovative e-marketing applications based on the Andromedia and LikeMinds technology.

Prior to LikeMinds, Greening was CEO of Chaco Communications. Previously, he was Director of Frameworks at Novell-Borland, where he led a joint development team. Greening also worked at IBM's T.J.
