Andrew announces new 5250 star repeater; creates dependable star-wired AS/400 or System/3X networks.

, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1995--Andrew Corp. is shipping the SuperStar(TM)/400Plus, an intelligent, active 5250 star repeater that creates dependable star-wired AS/400 or System/3X networks.

The SuperStar/400Plus transforms the twinax daisy chain Connected in series, one after the other. Transmitted signals go to the first device, then to the second and so on.

Both internal and external SCSI devices are daisy chained together.
 cabling into a cost-saving, flexible star-wired configuration, supporting both Type 3 UTP UTP (uridine triphosphate): see uracil.

The SuperStar/400Plus features the Andrew Digital Phase Lock Loop (DPLL DPLL - Digital Phase-Locked Loop ) repeater design which allows for superior data integrity. DPLL synchronizes incoming data frames from 1 Mbps up to 1.0368 Mbps. Specialized noise reduction circuitry is provided to ensure a reliable connection between the host and devices.

The SuperStar/400Plus comes equipped with automatic polarity detection and correction. "The SuperStar/400Plus is the only intelligent active star repeater that automatically detects and corrects reversed polarity per port," said Jordon Papanier, product line manager. "Users no longer have to worry about mismatched baluns or using cable testers."

IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , AT&T and USOC (Universal Service Order Code) An equipment coding system created by AT&T.
