Andrew is a global designer, manufacturer, and supplier of communications equipment, services, and systems. , a global communications equipment and systems supplier, has named Jude Panetta group president of Satellite Communications.

Panetta, formerly vice president and general manager, RF power amplifiers, for Andrew's Base Station Subsystems Group, replaces Paul Cox, who has resigned to become president of Smiths Interconnect, a business within the specialty engineering In systems engineering, Specialty Engineering includes the engineering domains that are not typical of the main engineering effort. Hardware engineering, software engineering, and human factors engineering may be used as major elements in a majority of systems engineering efforts  division of UK-based Smiths Group.

In his new role with satellite communications, Panetta will oversee a product group that had fiscal 2004 sales of $209 million and has an addressable Reachable. When something is addressable, it can be identified and manipulated independently of its surroundings. For example, screen pixels and RAM memory are addressable. Each of the screen's picture elements can be individually turned on and off, and each of the memory's bytes can be  market exceeding $1 billion. Its products include consumer DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) A one-way TV broadcast service from a communications satellite to a small round or oval dish antenna no larger than 20" in diameter.  (direct broadcast satellite), professional VSAT (Very Small Aperture satellite Terminal) A small earth station for satellite transmission that handles up to 56 Kbits/sec of digital transmission. VSATs that handle the T1 data rate (up to 1.544 Mbits/sec) are called "TSATs.  (very small aperture terminal (communications) Very Small Aperture Terminal - (VSAT) A kind of ground station used to contact a communications satellite such as INMARSAT. ), earth station satellite, and systems for various government and military applications. Panetta joined Andrew in June 2002 from Celiant Corporation, where he was vice president of engineering and operations. He also has held executive and managerial roles at Adtran, Exide Electronics and General Electric.
