:ANDW) today announced that it has agreed, with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., to supply digital input multi-carrier power amplifier units (DMAUs) for Samsung's next generation 3G base station product.

Andrew and Samsung are jointly developing an integrated radio-amplifier subsystem supporting CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. 2000 and WCDMA (Wideband CDMA) A 3G high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that use the TDMA or GSM technology worldwide, including AT&T (formerly Cingular) and T-Mobile in the U.S.  3G air interfaces at multiple frequencies. The subsystem will be deployed in Samsung's V.5 BTS BTS - Bug Tracking System  (Base Transceiver Station Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is the equipment which facilitates the wireless communication between user equipments (UE) and the network. UEs are devices like mobile phones (handsets), WLL phones, computers with wireless internet connectivity, WiFi and WiMAX gadgets etc. ) product.

Mr. Soon-Ho Hong, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Telecommunication Division, Samsung Electronics, said, "Samsung Electronics' presence in the CDMA and WCDMA equipment markets has been accelerating rapidly. Our collaboration with Andrew on this integrated amplifier development project is enabling us to provide a low-cost, high-efficiency base station to our customers. We believe that Andrew's advanced digital predistortion technology will be especially valuable for our new integrated radio-amplifier subsystem."
