Andrew Corporation's 3.7-meter Ku-band earth station antenna has received E-2 INTELSAT and ASIASAT-2 type approvals. The 3.7-meter earth station antenna is the smallest E-2 type approved antenna in the world. The new type approvals follow extensive factory testing witnessed by Comsat, INTELSAT's U.S. signatory, and ASIASAT.

By specifying an Andrew E-2 INTELSAT/ASIASAT-2 type approved 3.7-meter earth station antenna, savings as high as $10,000 in field testing can be achieved. The type approval eliminates costly field testing of transmit patterns and G/T measurements. System turn-on can be completed without the need for on-site engineers to conduct testing. OEMs also save time when integrating this antenna into original communications systems requiring type approval.

The 3.7-meter antenna also has EUTELSAT type approval and is approved for use in Russia by the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation.

3.7- meter Earth Station Antenna Features

The 3.7-meter earth station antenna uses advanced dual reflector technology together with the two-piece precision spun aluminum reflector assembly for accurate surface contour, providing high gain, efficiency, and closely controlled pattern characteristics. The antennas feature wide-band two- or four-port feed system, 10.95-12.75 GHz Rx and 14.0-14.5 GHz Tx. Gregorian optics are employed for high gain and pattern control and the motorizable mount allows upgrade to motorization. The 3.7-meter antenna has tested up to 125 mph survival in any position of operation.

Andrew also supplies 3.7-, 4.6- and 7.3-meter earth station antennas that are type approved to INTELSAT F standards and a 4.6-meter earth station antenna that is type approved for INTELSAT E standards.
