Ando Corporation announced today that its AU1500 IP Core Network Probe has been certified by Concord Communications as eHealth(TM) Ready. The certification includes the AU1500's standard RMON2 reporting, traps and alarms as well as Ando's unparalleled Multi-Protocol Label Switching (networking) label switching - A routing technique that uses information from existing IP routing protocols to identify IP datagrams with labels and forwards them to a modified switch or router, which then uses the labels to switch the datagrams through the network.  (MPLS) functionality.

"Ando is very pleased to be certified on Concord's industry leading eHealth Suite," says Hiroyuki Sato, General Manager of Ando Corporation's IP Products Division. "Ando's certification as eHealth Ready indicates to Carriers and ISPs that the AU1500 can easily be deployed on their networks and be interoperable with eHealth, one the most prominent tools in their existing NMS See NetWare Management System.  solution, right out of the box."

The AU1500 is the industry's first probe to offer detailed layer 2 to 7 monitoring for high-speed IP core networks. The AU1500's statistics reporting capabilities encompass standard RMON2 reporting (packet and byte counts by application protocols, nlHost/alHost, nlMatrix/alMatrix, priority, TopN, User History, and much more) and, along with Ando's recently announced MPLS software upgrade, also offers an unsurpassed level of MPLS VPN MPLS VPN is a family of methods for harnessing the power of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) to create Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). MPLS is well suited to the task as it provides traffic isolation and differentiation without substantial overhead.  and MPLS LSP LSP - Label Switched Path  statistics support. Especially remarkable is the fact that the AU1500 can provide this unprecedented depth of statistical information at wire-speed and in real time up to OC-48c (2.5 Gbit/s).

At the heart of Ando's solution is a robust hardware accelerated statistics engine that is custom designed to handle the speed and volume of traffic analysis on an IP core network link, thereby giving the AU1500 the ability to outperform embedded or software based solutions. Moreover, the AU1500 is a passive device that connects to the carrier network via an optical coupler Refers to a myriad of different types of sockets for plugging in electric or electronic cables or devices. See network coupler.  and therefore does not introduce additional points of failure into the network or degrade router performance.

"Concord's eHealth Suite provides our customers with the end-to-end view of how the management of their IT infrastructure supports their business," said Matt Standish, product marketing manager at Concord. "By certifying Ando's AU1500 IP Core Network Probe as part of our eHealth Ready program, we enable our IP carrier customer base to incorporate critical e-business technologies, such as Ando's industry leading MPLS, IP and RMON2 monitoring capabilities."

"The AU1500 offers IP carriers monitoring capabilities that simply were not possible before on OC-48c core networks in real time," says Sato. "Now, as a combined solution with eHealth, the Ando probe will empower carriers to extend their monitoring and management reach all the way to the core. Carriers will be able to have detailed usage statistics on layer 2 to 7 performance for both their IP and MPLS networks."

Applications for the AU1500 include: advanced SLA (1) (StereoLithography Apparatus) See 3D printing.

(2) (Service Level Agreement) A contract between the provider and the user that specifies the level of service expected during its term.

Ando is currently completing carrier customer network trials of the AU1500. The AU1500 IP Core Network Probe and the MPLS software upgrade will be available in June 2002. The AU1500 is certified as of eHealth 5.0.2 D03 which will be available from Concord Communications in June.
