To better serve the digital industries, in which communications, computing and content are rapidly converging, the firm aligned its Communications, Electronics & High Tech, and Media & Entertainment industry practices within a single global market unit. The $1.6 billion unit will provide a pool of integrated resources, knowledge and skills to serve clients in these fast-growing industries.

Clients in the new Communications & High Tech global market unit include: Alcatel, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Hongkong Telecom IMS, Microsoft, Motorola, R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, SONY, and Wallace Computer Services, Inc.

The firm's industry practices in this global market unit are among its fastest-growing. In 1997, Communications revenues grew 23% to $930 million; Electronics & High Tech grew 45% to $532 million; and Media & Entertainment grew 20% to $114 million.

Joe Forehand was named managing partner for the realigned Communications & High Tech global market unit. Forehand was previously managing partner for the firm's Products global market unit. In addition to his new market unit responsibilities, Forehand will provide oversight to Andersen Consulting's firm-wide eCommerce efforts, which have a significant impact on the digital industries.
