Caption: Andelot "Proefbrouwerij" (Proof Brewery) in Lochristl, Belgium, and Specialty Beer Services of Seattle, Washington have announced the United States introduction of Reinaert Flemish Wild Ale and Reinaert Flemish Amber Ale. The brand is named for Reinaert the Fox, a celebrated animal in Belgian folklore. SBS founder Alan Shapiro reports that Reinaert Wild Ale is a golden ale which gets its name from the use of a strain of brettanomyces-similar to the "wild yeast" used in lambic beer production. It is triple fermented and dry-hopped with East Kent Goldings. It is 9% alcohol by volume. The Reinaert Amber Ale is reddish-amber in color with floral and fruity aromas. It has a slightly sweet malty character, followed by hop and herbal-spicy notes. It is 7% alcohol by volume. Both beers are available in 2534 ounce cork-finished and 11.2 ounce crown-finished bottles. They will first be introduced in Washington and Oregon, with several western markets to follow.
