Andataco features unmatched solutions for the Sun Enterprise at SunWorld '95; booth giveaway for $100,000 in storage products.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 1995--Andataco, a leading supplier for storage, networking and Sun-compatible systems, will demonstrate an entire Sun enterprise at booth No. 936 at SunWorld '95.

The center of the enterprise features dual 100 megabyte per second A megabyte per second (MB/s or MBps) is a unit of data transfer rate equal to:
  • 1,000,000 bytes per second, or
  • 1,000 kilobytes per second, or
  • 8 Megabits per second.
FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) Often pronounced "fiddy," it was a LAN and MAN access method that had its heyday in the mid-1990s. FDDI was an ANSI standard token passing network that transmitted 100 Mbps over optical fiber up to 10 kilometers.  rings. The high bandwidth and fault-tolerant network will be used to demonstrate backup from RAID arrays to DLT (Digital Linear Tape) A magnetic tape technology originally developed by Digital for its VAX line. The technology was later sold to Quantum, which makes it available to other manufacturers. DLT uses half-inch, single-hub cartridges similar to IBM's 3480/3490/3590 line.  tape arrays.

Andataco will be showing fault tolerance See fault tolerant.

SunWorld '95, devoted to open systems technologies, will be held May 23-25 in San Francisco's Moscone Center.

RAID Lite, the first of a new generation of cost-effective but powerful RAID systems available for $4,995, will be unveiled at SunWorld '95. With RAID Lite, Andataco brings RAID to small networks scalable from the desktop to the data center. RAID Lite incorporates advanced RISC RISC
