Whose environmental victory is it anyway?

Flat-bottomed depression that is periodically covered by water. Playas occur in interior desert basins and adjacent to coasts in arid and semiarid regions.

The ad details a recent court victory that allows the developer to begin long-delayed work to restore a 26-acre portion of the wetlands.

"Playa Vista is thrilled to be able to soon resume the badly needed restoration of the Ballona Wetlands ecosystem," the ad proclaims.

Some environmentalists beg to differ.

"This is one of the worst examples of green-washing I've ever seen," said Marsha Hanscom, executive director of the Wetlands Action Network, which opposes the Playa Vista project. "This is no environmental victory. It's the prelude prelude (prā`ld), musical composition of no universal style, usually for the keyboard. It was originally used to precede a ceremony and later a second, often larger piece.  to the destruction of the marsh."
