A land claims hearing is anticipated to identify the rightful owners of parcels of land on the 11,000-acre island. Fiji's Cabinet endorsed the review at the request of the Rotuma Island Council. However, Council chairman Visanti Maktava told Radio Australia ABC Radio Australia is the international broadcasting and online service operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Australia's public broadcaster. It had a considerable range of broadcasts to the Asian region in the 1970s and 1980s, however in the late 1990s that he has some misgivings about the possible change in land status.
