ROME -- A child walks through miniature clay sculptures displayed on the staircase staircase - jaggies  of Santa Maria in Aracoeli Santa Maria in Aracoeli ("St. Mary of the Altar of Heaven") is a titular basilica church in Rome, located on the highest summit of the Campidoglio. It is still the designated Church of the Italian Senate and the Roman people (Senatus Populusque Romanus). . In January 5,000 sculptures representing the children of the world were on display to mark the 20th anniversary of "The spirit of Assisi," a phrase coined by the late Pope John Paul II Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP. II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Paweł II) born Karol Józef Wojtyła   to describe the Catholic Church's outreach to those in need.
