Ancient Egypt: Africa's glorious past.


After reading the article on Timbuktu Timbuktu (tĭm'bŭkt`, tĭmbŭk`t), city (1987 pop. 31,925), central Mali, near the Niger River.  (NA July), my respect goes to the people who are taking the measures to preserve the precious manuscripts recently discovered in Timbuktu.

However, I don't agree that the "Mali scripts are now destroying the myth that Africa was illiterate ILLITERATE. This term is applied to one unacquainted with letters.
