The Asyut project; v.1

DT73

Field director Kahl presents volume one for the Asyut Project, reconstructing the history of the ancient necropolis and town from both its previous studies and the current project's findings--the first archaeological groundwork carried out in Asyut in more than 80 years. Chapters include a history of research, sacred landscape, functions and changes, living and dying, men of influence and power, popular religion, and ateliers, schools, and knowledge. Appendices include a chronology of Ancient Egypt and a map of Gebel Asyut al- gharbi; multiple indices are organized by deity, kings, private names, and buildings outside Asyut, though oddly there is no general index to the volume.
