"We are excited to demonstrate these new capabilities at the NAB show, at both the IBM and Telestream booths. Ancept Media Server version 2.7 is targeted at the specific needs of the broadcast industry. The key capabilities of this release, which were developed in conjunction with Telestream, are: -- Key Frame Extraction. Key frames provide representative images for browsing video, as well as for making edit decisions. Extracted key frames are converted to JPEG images based on scene changes or predefined time intervals. With scene detection, a smart sensitivity slider bar provides the operator a convenient tool to adjust scene change sensitivity. And with time intervals, the operator may select a `single' key frame per clip, or choose virtually any interval for periodic key frame extraction. -- Vertical Interval Information. Two types of information may be extracted from the vertical interval: Closed Caption and Time Code. Extracted Closed Caption text is time stamped for accurate synchronization with the video. The time code can also be extracted from the GOP header of MPEG files. -- Conforming Engine. Integration Edit Decision Lists (EDLs) are created in and transferred from Ancept Media Server to a conform engine ultimately destined for the specified non-linear editor suite. The EDLs, which are currently created in Telestream's MDML format, include mark-in/mark-out points and reference links to each of the source clips that are to be conformed. The conform engine may also be used to trim a single clip (CLassical IP) See Classical IP. 1. CLIP - Compiler Language for Information Processing. 2. CLIP - Common LISP in Parallel. 3. Alternately, meta-data markers can be submitted to adjust the Start of Message and End of Message (SOM/EOM) which is used by broadcast media servers to control the play-out start/stop points for clips residing on the server. -- Watermarking Watermarks can be applied to video clips in order to protect the usage of copyrighted materials or to brand broadcast streams.
