more than a bit surprised to hear Carlo Ancelotti Carlo Ancelotti (born June 10, 1959 in Reggiolo) is a former footballer and current coach of Serie A club A.C. Milan. He is currently the longest-tenured manager in Serie A, having been with Milan since November 2001.  saying the League title is now Chelsea's to lose.

I know he's new to the Premier League but you really do have to choose your words carefully.

To say the league is anyone's to lose in early October is hugely premature.

And you can bet nobody at Liverpool -not to mention the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, hardly see it that way.

No. You should only make statements like that in the season's proper run in, when the maths is on your side and only a slip up on that final straight can get in your way.

There are just far to many points to play for and months to go for that sort of statement in my book.

As for Sunday's game, while like everyone I was really disappointed by the result, there wasn't much at all in that performance to be discouraged by. What you I was convinced we were heading for a 0-0 draw and only a slip by the otherwise superb Javier Mascherano Javier Alejandro Mascherano (pronounced as IPA: [ˌmaskeˈɾano]) (born June 8 1984 in San Lorenzo, Santa Fe) is an Argentine football player.  let Chelsea in.

To be fair Drogba and Anelka made the most of the opportunity. And by the time we conceded the second we were pushing on trying to get an equaliser which would not have been undeserved.

Ok we've lost three league games but to write anyone off, let alone a Liverpool side which has turned in some great goalscoring performances this season, would be crazy.

The lads just have to stay strong and keep their belief and confidence after the Chelsea result. It was a far better performance that the one in Fiorentina in midweek - which it needed to be - and if we can avoid the draws which proved so costly last season there's every chance we can get right back into the hunt.

We drew 11 times last season and if we can avoid those sort of statistics, then a few losses might not be as costly as some people are saying.

Chelsea have lost to Wigan Wigan (wĭg`ən), city (1991 pop. 88,725) and metropolitan district, N England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Douglas River.  and United only just avoided defeat to Sunderland on Saturday evening.

My view is that the team that wins the league could do so losing five or even six games this time.

Everyone at Liverpool will I'm sure ignore defeatist de·feat·ism

They just have to stick together and stick at it - because this race has an awful long way to run yet.
