Analyzer Transmitter Offers Highly Accurate Continuous Emissions Monitoring Capability in Compact, Explosion-Proof Package.

News Editors

ORRVILLE, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2000

Rosemount Analytical has combined its new CAT Continuous Analyzer Transmitter with a Sample Handling System (SHS SHS Shares (stock)
SHS SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) Humidity Sensor
SHS Sciences Humaines et Sociales (French: Social Sciences)
SHS Student Health Service
SHS Second Hand Smoke
) to offer a compact, modular Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMS CEMS Community of European Management Schools
CEMS Continuous Emission Monitoring System
CEMS Chemical Engineering & Materials Science

CEMS Comprehensive Engine Management System
CEMS Centralized Error Management System
) solution.

The new CAT CEMS package eliminates the need for a costly and cumbersome analyzer shelter and reduces other installation costs while offering the proven accuracy and rugged reliability of other Rosemount Analytical solutions.

The reduced size and rugged packaging of this CAT-based CEMS allows the analyzer system to be mounted closer to the process. Local mounting eliminates sample line measurement delays that are a major contributor to poor analyzer response. The CAT is suitable for high temperature process, tropical and desert applications with ambient operating temperatures up to 65 degrees Celsius.

The CAT is easy to use, operate and maintain. A touch pad offers local instrument access without opening the housing, which reduces downtime. The CAT also utilizes a twist-off cover that has no cumbersome bolting, making the CAT easy to service.

The modular CAT can be configured for single and/or multi-component gas analysis. The CAT measures thousands of gases including oxygen, sulfur dioxide sulfur dioxide, chemical compound, SO2, a colorless gas with a pungent, suffocating odor. It is readily soluble in cold water, sparingly soluble in hot water, and soluble in alcohol, acetic acid, and sulfuric acid. , methane, hydrogen and nitrogen. Within several months, detectors will be added to measure aliphatic aliphatic /al·i·phat·ic/ (al?i-fat´ik) pertaining to any member of one of the two major groups of organic compounds, those with a straight or branched chain structure.

, trace oxygen and NOx measurements. In addition, the CAT provides unequalled ultra-low-range accuracy for carbon monoxide carbon monoxide, chemical compound, CO, a colorless, odorless, tasteless, extremely poisonous gas that is less dense than air under ordinary conditions. It is very slightly soluble in water and burns in air with a characteristic blue flame, producing carbon dioxide;  and several other critical gases.

The CAT is part of Fisher-Rosemount's PlantWeb(R) field-based architecture and is compatible with the DeltaV(TM) scalable process control system.
