Analyst James Lin Joins Roth Capital Partners' Investment Banking Team.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- James Lin, a noted digital media analyst, has joined Roth Capital Partners as Managing Director, Investment Banking, according to Byron Roth, Chairman and CEO.

Lin will be based in Roth Capital's Newport Beach office, where he will focus on the consumer digital media, technology and interactive entertainment sectors, industries he covered during his decade on Wall Street as an equity research analyst.

"James' background as a research analyst will serve him well in his new role as an investment banker because he has a deep understanding of the digital media industry," said Roth. "We welcome him to our corporate finance team."

Lin joins Roth Capital from The SIMBA Group, a digital media industry consultancy he founded in 2003. Prior to The SIMBA Group, Lin served as Managing Director and Senior Analyst at Jefferies & Co., where he covered the digital media and leisure sectors. He has also served as Managing Director, Senior Analyst and Head of Technology Research Group at Tucker Anthony Sutro. Lin also has worked at Morgan Stanley, ING Barings and Wedbush Morgan Securities in various equity research capacities.

While an equity analyst, Lin was named to the 2000 Wall Street Journal All Star Team for excellence in stock picking. He has earned other awards for exceptional investment recommendations, including The 2001 Scarlet "A" Award from The Liberty Acorn Family of Funds.

Lin is a frequent guest speaker and panelist at industry functions and has been quoted in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Investors Business Daily, Forbes Magazine, Financial Times and New York Times. He has appeared on CNBC, CNNfn, Bloomberg Television and other programs servicing the financial and technology communities.

Lin is a member of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS), and Videogame Players Association (VGPA). He has served as a director on the board of Global Window Partners, a leading provider of distance learning content and courseware. Lin holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Leonard Stern School of Business at New York University, Certificate of Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
