Analysis & Technology, Inc. Awarded $21 Million Contract by the Naval Research Laboratory.

BAY, ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1998--Analysis & Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AATI), a leading developer of engineering technologies and technology- based training solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract with potential value of $21 million over five years by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Work will be performed in support of NRL's Stennis Space Center, Mississippi detachment.

Analysis & Technology and its subcontractors will provide software development services for gathering, analyzing, and deploying time- sensitive data describing ocean and atmospheric conditions. This environmental data is critical to tactical decision-makers in the fleet and at shoreside locations.

Under terms of the contract, Analysis & Technology will develop prototype communications software in addition to software engineering for data collection and analysis in order to support the Navy's Information Technology for the 21st Century (IT-21) initiative. This technology is moving the U.S. Navy to a network-centric force able to communicate information immediately around the world. Satellite links will be used to collect environmental data and to communicate the tactical decision information to the end user. Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies will play a central role in work under the contract to speed solutions to the customer. In addition, scientific papers and publications which aid the understanding of environmental information will be converted to digital documents and deployed over the Internet using Web-based format, so they may be accessed by personnel throughout the world.
