Analogy Integrates the SaberDesigner Mixed-Signal Tool Suite into Workview Office on Windows NT.

BEAVERTON, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1999--

SABER(R), Analogy's Leading Mixed-Signal

Simulator, Now Simulates Designs Created in the

Viewlogic Systems Environment on Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. (R)

Analogy, Inc. today announced the availability on Windows NT(R) of the SaberDesigner(TM) integration into Workview Office(R) from Viewlogic Systems, Inc.

The full power of the Saber simulator is now available in the Workview Office NT design environment with this new Frameway(R) for Viewlogic NT. The Frameway product provides designers seamless access to the Saber simulator and its optional co-simulation interface products.

"With the new Frameway integration to Workview Office, designers can now simulate complete mixed-signal designs directly from the Viewlogic environment," said Doug Lundin, Vice President -- Marketing at Analogy. "There was a strong demand for the extension of our Frameway to Viewlogic from UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
to Windows NT and we are glad to provide this integration for one of the most popular design environments on Windows NT."

Designers now can start Saber for mixed-signal simulations without leaving ViewDraw(R) and they have access to the full suite of Saber analyses through a user-friendly interface containing simple icons and pull-down menus Also called a "drop-down menu" or "pop-down menu," the common type of menu used with a graphical user interface (GUI). Clicking a menu title causes the menu items to appear to drop down from that position and be displayed. . Special interface models, called Hypermodels(R), are automatically inserted into the design to handle the critical seam seam (sem) a line of union.

where analog and digital models interact. Analogy's patented Calaveras(R) Algorithm for the Analog/Digital boundary allows the analog and digital sections of a design to simulate with optimal time steps.

After the simulation is complete, the Frameway provides access to SaberScope to display and analyze results. SaberScope is a true mixed-signal display tool that sets the standard for display and manipulation of simulation results. A designer can select a node on the ViewDraw schematic A graphical representation of a system. It often refers to electronic circuits on a printed circuit board or in an integrated circuit (chip). See logic gate and HDL.  and cross-probe the corresponding waveform The shape of a signal. See wavelength, sine wave and square wave. . With SaberScope the designer has access to numerous predefined measurements to analyze waveforms. If the designer needs more measurements the programmable Waveform Calculator tool offers additional capabilities to manipulate waveforms, compare data, or create customized measurements.

In addition the Frameway integration allows designers to access the new Saber/ModelSim co-simulation interface for NT and use Saber and Model Technology's ModelSim EE VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction.  or ModelSim EE PLUS concurrently on mixed-signal designs. That gives designers the capability to simulate designs containing MAST(R), VHDL and Verilog models.

Analogy's optional InSpecs(R) analysis tools can further increase productivity and reduce design costs. The InSpecs packages for stress, parametric, and statistical analysis help designers produce a more robust design. More importantly InSpecs can be used with Saber/ModelSim co-simulation to perform statistical analyses of analog behavior during co-simulation.

Price and Availability

The Frameway integration to Viewlogic on the NT platform is planned for release by the end of the first quarter in 1999. A single floating license is priced at $6,000 per license. A node locked licensed is priced at $4,800.
