Analogic Corporation Receives $36 Million Order for Its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography Systems.

PEABODY, Mass. -- Analogic Corporation (NASDAQ: ALOG) announced today that the Company has received a $36 million order for its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT(TM)) Systems from L-3 Communications' (NYSE: LLL) subsidiary, L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. Shipments under this order will begin in October 2005 and continue through November 2006.

The EXACT is the heart of L-3's eXaminer 3DX(R) 6000 and eXaminer 3DX(R) 6500, certified Explosives Detection Systems (EDSs) that have been purchased by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and installed at major airports across the U.S. The L-3 systems are also installed at a number of leading international airports such as Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, Singapore's Changi Airport, and Italy's Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.

"We are very pleased to receive this additional order from L-3 Communications," said Analogic President and CEO John Wood. "This is the fourth major order we've received from L-3 in the past fourteen months, reflecting a continued demand in the United States and a growing demand internationally." Last month the TSA placed an order with L-3 to support in-line explosives detection systems under construction at a number of U.S. airports. South Korea's Incheon International Airport and Japan's Tokyo-Narita International Airport also placed significant orders recently. "The increased demand reflects the growing recognition that the eXaminer incorporates the most advanced security imaging technology available today," Wood said.

Analogic's delivery of systems under preceding orders has been accelerated to meet demand. Shipments for the most recent order were originally scheduled through January 2006, but will now be completed in October 2005. The new order will be completed in November 2006.
