Booth #847

FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2004

Responding to the fast-growing demand for low-rate wireless connectivity solutions, Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE NYSE

See: New York Stock Exchange
: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today announced three new RF (radio frequency) ICs that offer a complete, low-power radio system solution on a single chip, which simplifies the design and reduces bill of material cost for customers. The new transceiver ICs and transmitter IC complement Analog Devices' existing family of ISM (industrial, scientific, and medical) band transmitters (ADF (1) (Application Development Facility) An IBM programmer-oriented mainframe application generator that runs under IMS.

7010, ADF7011) for low-rate wireless connectivity applications. These new RF ICs will be displayed in the Analog Devices' booth #847.

The ADF7012 is a (VHF/UHF) transmitter IC with 50 MHz to 1 GHz frequency operation allowing multiple frequency plans to be implemented for transmit applications such as RF remote controls, remote keyless entry and wireless sensor applications. The ADF7020 & ADF7025 are ISM band transceiver ICs, which operate at bands from 433 to 928 MHz, implement complete transceiver solutions with few external components and are suited to wireless video & audio for alarm, sensor, and security systems, automatic meter reading Automatic meter reading, or AMR, is the technology of automatically collecting data from water meter or energy metering devices (water, gas, electric) and transferring that data to a central database for billing and/or analyzing. , and remote transducer applications.

"Analog Devices has once again drawn upon its RF integration expertise to build these single chip solutions that make creating wireless links very affordable," said Christian Kermarrec, vice president, RF and wireless systems, Analog Devices, Inc.

About the ADF7012

The ADF7012 is a single-chip, low-power UHF transmitter with 50 MHz to 1 GHz frequency operation and a Fractional-N PLL (phased locked loop) at the core. It operates at 2.3 to 3.3 volts with very low current consumption. An onboard voltage regulator provides stable performance. The output power is programmable in steps of -16 dBm to +14 dBm, with 0.4 dB steps. Data rates supported are up to 150 kilobits per second (unit) kilobits per second - (kbps, kb/s) A unit of data rate where 1 kb/s = 1000 bits per second. This contrasts with units of storage where 1 Kb = 1024 bits (note upper case K).  (kbits/s). Current consumption is 10 mA at 315 MHz (0 dBm).

About the ADF7020

The ADF7020 is a low power, low-IF transceiver operating in frequency bands from 433 to 464 MHz and 868 to 928 MHz. Data rates supported are 0.3 to 200 kbits/s, FSK (frequency shift keying) of 0.3 to 64 kbits/s, and ASK(amplitude shift keying). It operates on a +2.3 V to +3.6 V power supply with programmable output power from -16 to +13 dBm in 0.3 dBm steps. Its receiver sensitivity is -117.5dBm at 1 kbits/s FSK, -110.5 dBm at 9.6 kbits/s FSK, and -106.5 dBm at 9.6 kbits/s ASK. Current consumption is 19 mA in receive mode and 22 mA in transmit mode (+10 dBm output). Other features include on-chip VCO (voltage controlled oscillator oscillator

), temperature sensor and a +/-1 ppm RF output frequency accuracy made possible by its low-cost 100ppm crystal. Its leakage current is less than 1uA in power down mode.

About the ADF7025

The ADF7025 is a low power, zero-IF RF transceiver operating in frequency bands of 433 MHz to 464 MHz and 862 MHz to 928 MHz. The ADF7025 is a highly integrated FSK/GFSK (Gaussian frequency shift keying) transceiver designed for compliance with FCC 15.247 specifications. A complete time division duplex Time division duplex
Time division duplex (TDD) is the application of time-division multiplexing to separate outward and return signals. It emulates full duplex communication over a half duplex communication link.
(TDD) or full duplex RF link can be built with a small number of external components making the ADF7025 very suitable for price- and area-sensitive applications. Combined with the ADF7012 and ADF4106 a complete RF front-end for hybrid 5.8/0.9 GHz digital cordless phones can be implemented.
