(NYSE: ADI), a leader in high performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, announced today that it has added three new integrated circuits (ICs) to its radio frequency (RF) product portfolio. These new products include three new phase-locked-loop (PLL) synthesizers for communications, industrial and instrumentation applications. The new synthesizers enable state-of-the-art local oscillators for the up-conversion and down-conversion of RF signals and timing generation at industry-leading performance levels. These RF devices will be showcased in the Analog Devices booth #2104 at the International Microwave Symposium (MTT-S) in Philadelphia, Penn. from June 10 through 12, 2003. "Today's announcement extends our portfolio and strengthens our position in high performance radio frequency ICs with industry-leading performance and integration advantages," said Christian Kermarrec, vice president, RF and wireless systems, Analog Devices, Inc. "Our expertise in signal processing and RF design makes Analog Devices one of the few companies in the world that can address the entire wireless signal chain -- from radio front ends to digital baseband processing." About ADI's New RF ICs The ADF4107 offers the industry's highest performance integer-N PLL synthesizer, extending the upper frequency limit for PLL synthesizers to 7 GHz. Pin-compatible with its 6 GHz predecessor, the ADF4106, the new IC operates on 2.7 to 5.5V power supplies and includes provision for charge-pump voltage up to 5.5 V for wideband operation. The ADF4107 is available now at $3.32 in 1,000-piece quantities. The ADF4360 is a single-chip integer-N PLL synthesizer that integrates a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) on-chip, eliminating the need for an external packaged or discrete device, thus reducing circuit area, component count and cost. There are six options available with frequency range set by on-chip inductors having maximum output frequency ranges from 1250 to 2550 MHz. In addition, a seventh version is available which employs a user-selected external inductor to set the output center frequency to any value between 200 and 1000 MHz. The wide selection of operating frequencies supports a wide range of applications including wireless base stations, wireless LANs and broadband wireless access. The device is programmed via a simple 3-wire interface, operates from 2.7 to 3.3V power supply and can be powered down when not in use. The ADF4360 is available now at $3.23 in 1,000-piece quantities. The ADF4153 uses fractional-N PLL technology to achieve a 10 dB improvement in phase noise compared to devices based on integer-N technology. It is the first in ADI's family of performance upgrade products and is pin-compatible with the ADF4110/1/2/3 products, thereby allowing performance of systems such as cellular base stations to be improved without the need to completely redesign the system's frequency synthesizer section. The device is programmed via a simple 3-wire interface, operates with a power supply ranging from 2.7 to 3.3V and can be powered down when not in use. The ADF4153 is available now at $3.23 in 1,000-piece quantities. All of these new RF ICs are supported by Analog Devices' ADIsimPLL circuit simulation tool, available as a free-of-charge download at http://www.analog.com/pll.
