Analog Devices Awards Company's Highest Technical Honor to Frederic Boutaud.NORWOOD, Mass. -- Analog Devices Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI) is an American multinational producer of semiconductor devices. Analog specializes in ADC, DAC, MEMS, and DSP chips for consumer and industrial goods. Analog is presently designing circuits in the 65 nanometer to 3 µm process feature sizes range. , Inc. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange : ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing See DSP. applications, announced today that it has named Frederic Boutaud to the distinguished position of ADI Fellow. The promotion to Fellow for Mr. Boutaud was announced during the company's annual technology conference, attended by more than 1,500 engineers from ADI design sites worldwide. The Fellows honor is awarded when an engineer has contributed significantly to ADI's business and demonstrated important qualities such as innovation, leadership, entrepreneurial ability, and consulting skills. In addition, an ADI Fellow must be a company ambassador, bridging across organizations and demonstrating an unparalleled ability to teach and mentor others within the company. With Mr. Boutaud's induction, Analog Devices has a total of 31 Fellows out of more than 3,000 engineers worldwide. A 25-year veteran of integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for design and architecture work, Mr. Boutaud joined ADI in 1996. He holds 46 patents in programmable architectures and wireless communications circuit design. "Frederic has been a key leader in wireless communications, developing breakthroughs in scalable, reconfigurable architectures by integrating the disciplines of system, algorithm and circuit design engineering," said Samuel H. Fuller, vice president of research and development, Analog Devices, Inc. "His technical leadership and design innovations have contributed to ADI's accomplishments in wireless communications, and our analog and digital design teams have become more exposed to system IC techniques through his work." Mr. Boutaud's career encompasses a wide range of technologies, including over-sampling data converters, CPU design, graphics and video processing, and low-power DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive core design. Mr. Boutaud is a graduate of the prestigious Ecole Centrale de Lyon of Ecully Cedex, France and is also a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Not to be confused with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE (pronounced as eye-triple-e (IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields. ).
