For those woodworking companies who are looking to replicate the success of these great teams, the 1993 Woodworking, Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair, commonly known as the Anaheim Fair, may provide some of the answers.

Companies who want to educate their workers can choose from more than 75 educational seminars, workshops and demonstrations to be presented at the four-day show being held from Sept. 9 - 12. Those companies looking to supply employees with the latest in equipment and supplies can peruse pe·ruse

Lasorda, who in his 17 years as manager of the Dodgers has won two World Series championships, four National League Pennants and six NL West division titles, will pass on some of the "winning" techniques he has developed over the years in a speech entitled, "How to Get Peak Performance from Team Players."

Lasorda's keynote address will kick off the 1993 Woodworking, Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair on Sept. 9 at 9 a.m.

Machinery and supplies

More than 18,000 woodworkers from California and across the country are projected to attend the show which is the largest woodworking trade show in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  this year. The attendance projection only includes show attendees, and does not include exhibitors.

This year, approximately 750 exhibitors from the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and 20 foreign countries will display their wares. Among the products to be exhibited include: machinery, fabrics, fixtures, computers, hardware, laminating equipment and supplies, fastening systems, finishing products, metal and metal parts, packaging, plant operating equipment, plastics, tools, upholstering machinery and supplies, wood, wood components, robots and more.

The exhibits will cover 285,000 square feet of floor space, more than 10 percent greater than in 1991, and will spread through the convention center's four halls.

"The fair is a 'must see' one-stop shopping bonanza," said Newburg. "These will be your four most productive days this year.

"The product lineup is so comprehensive in terms of state-of-the-art machinery and supplies, no one in the industry can afford to miss the fair if higher profits is their goal," Newburg added. "Anyone who attends might see a piece of equipment that will revolutionize their shop floor, hear an idea that changes their operations forever or meet someone with the answer to a question he's asked for years."

Attend "college" at the fair

The Anaheim show also offers woodworkers an opportunity to hone their knowledge of the industry. More than 175 experts will oversee 75 seminars, workshops and other educational sessions in what the show calls the "College of Woodworking Knowledge."

Educational programs will run from Sept. 8 through Sept. 12. This year their will be three full-day sessions on Wednesday including "Common Sense Approach to Manufacturing -- Best of TOC, TQM (Total Quality Management) An organizational undertaking to improve the quality of manufacturing and service. It focuses on obtaining continuous feedback for making improvements and refining existing processes over the long term. See ISO 9000.  & JIT JIT - dynamic translation ," "Spray Finishing" and "Running a Profitable Woodworking Business -- A Short Course for Front Line Management."

Additionally, there will be 45 90-minute sessions that feature a "roundtable" exchange with industry experts, five 2 1/2 hour workshops that will focus on specific use of equipment, tools and ideas, and 17 Special Machinery Orientation Programs (SMOP SMOP - /S-M-O-P/ [Simple (or Small) Matter of Programming] 1. A piece of code, not yet written, whose anticipated length is significantly greater than its complexity. Used to refer to a program that could obviously be written, but is not worth the trouble. ), that will give participants an exclusive demonstration of equipment on the shop floor prior to the opening of the show. There will also be Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation resuscitation /re·sus·ci·ta·tion/ (-sus?i-ta´shun) restoration to life of one apparently dead.
