Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle Receives Prestigious National Association of Home Builders Award.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle was awarded the prestigious Local Official of the Year award by the National Association of Homebuilders today. Mayor Pringle was nominated by the Orange County Chapter of the Southern California Building Industry Association. The Local Official of the Year award, given at a breakfast in Washington, D.C., is awarded to a local elected official who demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the housing industry, works against opposition on a beneficial issue, or implements innovative programs to assist or educate builders.

Since Curt Pringle's election as Mayor in 2002 and re-election in 2006, Anaheim has earned the distinction of being a municipality with a "freedom-friendly" approach to governing - a spirit that has fostered greater personal, entrepreneurial and corporate initiative in the City. Mayor Pringle also spearheaded the approval of a landmark update to the City of Anaheim's General Plan that included sweeping changes to the zoning code. This has led directly to the dramatic revitalization of the 807-acre Platinum Triangle which currently includes the Honda Center and Angel Stadium, the historic downtown area and portions of West Anaheim.

Under Mayor Pringle's leadership, the Anaheim city council adopted an ambitious new housing strategic plan which uses market incentives, rather than command-and-control policies, to sizably increase the affordable housing stock in the City of Anaheim over a four-year period. Most recently, the Anaheim City Council passed a resolution to adopt an Economic Stimulus Package for Residential Development that would allow incentives to promote the development, sale and rental of homes through the summer of 2010. Mayor Pringle has also led the effort in the development of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), a world-class transportation center and mixed-use activity envisioned to be funded through a public-private partnership. ARTIC will revolutionize transportation in and around Anaheim; California's tenth largest city and host to 20 million annual visitors.

Because of his experience and depth of knowledge on a variety of issues, Mayor Pringle is regularly sought out at the national, regional and local level to speak on policy issues such as affordable and workforce housing, transportation, planning and development, and local government finance reform.
