Anadigm Announces Price Reduction for Field Programmable Analog Array Development System.

TEMPE, Ariz -- Anadigm(R), the programmable analog company, is lowering the price of its full-featured field programmable analog array (FPAA FPAA Field-Programmable Analog Array

) development kit, including development license, to just $199. Representing a $300 savings, the new pricing will allow designers to try out FPAAs in their applications and move directly to production without paying any additional licensing fees.

"Whatever the application area -- audio, industrial, medical or anywhere else that analog interfaces are required -- now there's another good reason to try FPAAs," said Bill McLean, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  at Anadigm(R). "More than ever, designers owe it to themselves to experience all the benefits of software-controlled analog, from ease of design to the introduction of new capabilities made possible by dynamic reconfiguration."

Anadigm(R) FPAAs are being used by a wide range of customers to replace discrete components and ASICs in real-world interfaces, where the devices greatly reduce the length of design cycles while bringing analog functions under digital control. Dynamically reconfigurable FPAAs allow on-the-fly, real-time control Real-time control is a popular term for a certain class of digital controllers. For effective digital control, it is critical that sample time be constant. Real-time control achieves nearly constant sample time. See also

The Anadigmvortex development system includes AnadigmDesigner(R)2 CAD software and a development board that provides a simple mechanism for evaluation, debugging, and initial test of an FPAA. With its small footprint, the board can even be used for prototyping in some cases.

Development board features include an AN221E04 FPAA with header pins, a serial interface, four uncommitted external op-amp circuits, a 16-MHz oscillator oscillator

Multiple boards can be daisy-chained, allowing designers to evaluate multi-FPAA systems.

While the development board is supplied with an AN221E04 FPAA, designers can use the board with the latest version of the AnadigmDesigner(R)2 software and any FPAA in the Anadigmvortex family.

The Anadigmvortex development system is available for order now at http://www.anadigm.com/products.asp. Pricing for the FPAA family of silicon products ranges from $3.15 to $7.69 in 10,000-piece quantities.

About Anadigm(R)

Anadigm(R) brings platform-based design to the analog world with prequalified software and hardware components that allow complex analog circuits to be implemented in an analog equivalent to the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market. . Designed to implement signal conditioning Imagine feeding the output of a temperature sensor, which is in millivolts, to an Analog-to-digital converter to be processed. Is it possible for the Analog-to-Digital converter to process such a minute voltage amplitude? The answer is probably no. , filtering, data acquisition, closed-loop control, and other analog functions in a wide range of embedded systems Embedded systems

Computer systems that cannot be programmed by the user because they are preprogrammed for a specific task and are buried within the equipment they serve.
, Anadigm(R) FPAAs are the first programmable analog ICs that can adapt on the fly to perform multiple functions, adjust to different environmental conditions, or compensate for aging equipment. Founded in January 2000 as a venture-backed technology spinoff from Motorola, Anadigm(R) maintains U.S. headquarters in Tempe, Ariz., and European headquarters in Crewe, United Kingdom.
