Anachem, Ltd. Chooses Applix iEnterprise To Provide a Service Solution to Support Field-Based Operations.

and consumables to the life science research market, has selected Applix iEnterprise CRM (Customer Relationship Management) An integrated information system that is used to plan, schedule and control the presales and postsales activities in an organization.  (Customer Relationship Management) for its iService application solution. Anachem serves multinational pharmaceutical companies through to academic research institutions, and has a turnover of (pound)26 million.

In order to deliver an even better service to its customers and also meet its own requirements in providing customer satisfaction, Anachem realized it needed to replace their existing system with new and more integrated and flexible technology. The new solution had to meet two crucial objectives: Anachem wanted to improve the control and manageability of its field based engineers and technicians through the implementation of more intelligent and integrated mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings . The application also had to be an Internet-based solution, enabling customers to view Anachem's service database as well as supporting future strategies for data deployment. Applix iEnterprise, a fully Web-enabled application, met with all of these requirements.

As Keith Jump, Anachem's head of IT, explains: "Applix iEnterprise is a flexible and customizable solution. We wanted reassurance REASSURANCE. When an insurer is desirous of lessening his liability, he may procure some other insurer to insure him from loss, for the insurance he has made this is called reassurance.  that our chosen solution would be fully designed to meet our specific requirements. Applix consultants worked with us to provide just that: a fully tailored solution, which is easily accessible to our mobile workforce. Through the Java Client provided for Web access, we will also be able to offer our customers access to a wealth of information, enabling us to offer higher levels of service and support to our Customers, as well as giving us an increased competitive advantage in our market place."

A pilot involving a group of Anachem engineers is planned for the end of this year. The solution will then be rolled out to the remaining field-based engineers and internal staff through the first quarter of the year 2000, before plans are reviewed for the introduction of Applix into other Business Units within Anachem.

"To maintain and increase our competitive advantage, we need to provide our staff with as much customer information as possible. Having an integrated application throughout our Business will enable us to manage our Customers and business far more effectively. With plans to further deploy Applix across all Business Units, Anachem will achieve a fully integrated CRM solution, this will undoubtedly support improvement in productivity, efficiency and enhance our Customer Service, giving us a leading advantage," said Jump.

The contract also includes the initial consultancy services and implementation provided by Applix. However, the Anachem staff has also been trained to manage the application independently in the future, with traditional ongoing support to be provided by Applix's iHelpDesk.
