Anacapa Will be `Berry Big' In USA Frozen Strawberries.
A new processing facility is under construction at Oxnard, Calif., next to a Well-Pict cooler and fresh shipping operation. The plant will total more than 93,000 square feet. Anacapa also has a processing facility in Watsonville, Calif., that came with Pacific Gold. Between them, they will process about 30 million pounds of strawberries this year and 60 million next.
Michael Sharp, general manager of Pacific Gold, is the first president of Anacapa. Working with him as vice president of sales is George E. Carroll, who operates out of Newbury Park, Calif. Pacific Gold and Well-Pict, will continue as independent companies within the joint venture -- which offers IQF whole and diced strawberries, plus purees and juice stocks.
