Ana Mederos Named CEO of Palmetto General Hospital.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Tenet's hospital network in South Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward counties announced today that Ana Mederos has been named chief executive officer of Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah. The appointment will be effective in mid-July.

"Ana's background and experience uniquely qualifies her to provide the leadership required to lead Palmetto General Hospital to greater heights in the years ahead," said Ralph A. Aleman, network vice president. "Her strong clinical and managerial skills, coupled with a great knowledge of the health care market in Miami-Dade County will serve her well in her new role."

Mederos, 50, is a registered nurse who has served as CEO at two Tenet hospitals in South Florida, most recently at Hialeah Hospital and, prior to that, at North Shore Medical Center. Before joining Tenet in 2001, Mederos served as chief operating officer of Cedars Medical Center and chief nursing officer of Victoria Hospital, both located in Miami.

Mederos holds a bachelor's degree in health care administration from Florida International University and a master's degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University. Mederos is also a registered nurse with an associate's degree from Miami-Dade College.
