This text/DVD package is for students who are learning their first programming language. Problem solving techniques and structured programming (based on object-oriented programming principles) are discussed early and used throughout the book. Learning features include chapter summaries, case studies, and exercises. Most of the exercise sets require students to trace programs, find errors, and write programs. Chapter programming projects not only reflect the variety of ways that computers are used in the business community, but also present some games and general-interest topics. An appendix provides a step-by-step reference on how to carry out standard tasks in the Visual Basic environment. There is also an appendix on migrating from Visual Basic 6.0 to Visual Basic 2008. This seventh edition covers relevant new features of Visual Basic 2008. Information on the accompanying DVD is not given. Schneider is affiliated with the University of Maryland.
